Paula Deen was born in Albany, Georgia, and grew up in a small town in Georgia.

Her parents passed away when she was 19 years old, and she was also abandoned by her husband. Deen suffered from agoraphobia, which prevented her from leaving her home due to panic attacks. In an effort to overcome her condition, she discovered her passion for cooking and became a skilled chef.

In 1986, Deen began working as a bank teller and moved to Savannah, Georgia, with her two sons, Jami
